We all have an instinct to pursue something greater. That something mainly holds our dreams firmly within its grasp. That place we have never seen, that corporate ladder climb, that longed forbidden love, that elusive deal yet to be signed. But, life would be too simple if wishing alone would make those things instantly appear in plain sight. A pursuit requires risk, courage, strength, perseverance, and above all things, heart. After all, it is the difficulty of the pursuit which makes its fulfillment feel so right.

But why pursue it now? Wouldn't it be better to let the test of time decide? Surely, that's what most will say when you encounter a desire in your heart just longing to come alive. Yet, there is the uncertainty of time, and we just don't know how much of it realistically is ours. So, let's just say "right now is a gift, and that's why we call it the present" and move toward an objective that at the moment is just something in the back of our mind.
To methodically plan for its arrival, the many sacrifices to obtain it which call for the pain of discipline over the pain of regret and self-sorrow, to extinguish relationships that are part of one's identity but with time have drifted apart, the perpetual guilt of breaking your best friend's heart, to endlessly wonder how affection seemingly vanished or where it has gone, the realization that money at best only solves the minor problems but not the major ones, the eternal pain of losing that special someone, the betrayals that paralyze like a sniper's bullet from a great height, the cold shoulder of a close friend as a result of jealousy and spite, to play a game no one else can or dares to try, and even the weight of failure and disappointment carried across an ocean on a seventeen hour flight.
The void, the emptiness, the silence, the unhappiness that consumes you deep into the twilight, the internal struggles and all the feelings that follow the most bitter of fights, the weight of one's flaws and mistakes that grow heavier with time, the willingness to sell your soul to numb the pain that comes with unveiling lies, things one would not wish upon an arch nemesis, at least not in one's right mind. To even feel so lost you are incapable of remembering your closest ones. Yet, all accompanied by the confidence in the belief to wholeheartedly move forward with the pursuit despite overwhelming unfavorable odds. Aches and exhaustion may be a part of the journey, but the most unbearable and heaviest part is the lightness of a tear that seems to randomly flow in the space of a thought. Because the obstacles too are a part of life, although often not worthy of a like.
It all happens one step at a time, although sometimes the steps come swiftly and all at once. But that comes with the territory of stepping into the unknown, and into the woods not just for the sake of adventure but for the quest of something more....it's a feeling meant to be nurtured, embraced and never ignored. Growth does not come from comfort, and the fulfillment of our heart's deepest desires are adequately not for the faint of heart. For there is nothing more breathtaking than experiencing the majesty of St. Peter's Square for the first time or landing in Paris at night, the thrill of an airport to travel the world again to play the star, the relief of almost completing your mission after an odyssey with the finish line in sight, the recognition and consistent rewards because time and time again you made the decisions that set you apart, to dream of love finding you again if anything by pure random chance, that last first kiss others may disapprove of but will nevertheless capture your forever at last, the first glance into the innocence of your newborn's eyes with their helpless little body held so closely in your arms, signing onto a partnership which will open unparalleled doors and transform your life, to finally become that simple person you appreciate, understand and even like, the awareness that despite certain accomplishments you have not yet reached the peak of your prime.
There is no such things as a coincidence, and this message has found you through the vacuum of infinity for a reason only the universe knows why. It's all there for the taking, you just have to be willing to let go of what you're holding on to and is anchoring you from pursuing that desire in your heart. After all, you could never lose what you never had. For it is only in the end that we realize there is nothing bigger than the aggregate of the all the little things in one's life. Start the pursuit today, don't wait for tomorrow, because just maybe, tomorrow may be too late to start.
